Samantha Kitty

Samantha passed on at 18 3/4 years of age.

Samantha came into our lives in July 1989 when the downstairs tenant in the Kona house said she was moving back to the mainland and would we take care of her cat, who was extraordinarily shy.  After a few months she started coming into the house in the evenings to eat.  A few months later she was spending her nights in the house.

One morning she walked up to the door to be let out, stopped, looked at me, looked outside, looked at me again and turned around and got back up on the sofa.  She never offered to go outside again.  Smart kitty.  She has lived a good life, sleeping on the bed at night curled up against David's head.

She lived comfortably with failing kidneys for a number of years with hydration and medication.  Eventually she went into a quiet twilight sleep and the vet helped her pass on.

The house doesn't feel quite right without her presence, especially the master bedroom which was her principle residence in her later years.  We miss her and she'll be forever in our hearts.
