Maquis Kitty

Maquis passed on at 13 2/3 years of age.

Maquis came into our lives in February 1998 when a neighbor moved to Texas declaring she didn't want that cat.  He had terrible flea allergies so his fur and skin were a mess but easily treated with flea control and a good diet.  About 6 months after he came to live with us in the Kona house, Maquis developed diabetes.  He has lived a good life with an insulin shot every morning.

But the diabetes compromised his eyesight and his kidneys, as diabetes does.  He was still doing well until Monday, when we noticed his pupils were different sizes and he lost interest in eating.  The vet recommended three days of treatment but his breathing became labored and his pupils did not change.  The vet helped him pass on.

The house doesn't feel quite right without his presence, especially the office which was his principle residence.  We miss him and he'll be forever in our hearts.
